My Classic Combo

My Guitar: The Maton EM225 pictured below was purchased back in 2000 and was my first steel string acoustic. Not exactly low or high end as guitars go the EM225 model has been a the go to work horse guitar for anyone playing Aussie pub rock bands for decades.

This one is a little special though in that it got some very special tender loving care from one of Australia’s finest luthiers, Chris Melville, a few years back. It now boasts a new bridge, bone saddle and neck as well as stainless steel frets. I’ve played plenty of high end acoustic guitars but nothing compares to my ‘Melville’ Maton.

My Amplifier: The Rivera Sedona 25 is something of an abnormality in the amplifier scene. This beast of a 25 watt tube amplifier is designed to amplify both acoustic and electric guitars. My particular amplifier is even more special as it is housed in a custom exterior hand selected by the maker of Rivera Amplifers, Paul Rivera, himself.

This wasn’t a special order, just the right buyer at the right time. Whilst the exterior doesn’t affect the sound like all things acoustic guitar brown is always better.
